NSW’s hospitality industry has breathed a sigh of relief the announcement that restrictions will ease at 80 per cent double dose vaccinations and again on 1 December. Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) has welcomed the changes put forward by the NSW Government after weeks of consultation and advocacy from the industry.
This announcement gives a ray of hope to all restaurants, cafes and caterers across NSW who have been subjected to some of the harshest lockdown restrictions in Australia and will mean that NSW can get back to doing the things they love most.
R&CA CEO Wes Lambert said that certainty around new rules for hospitality venues with the ability to stand up while eating and drinking at 80% and a move to 1 per 2 sqm on 1 December will have the industry cheering.
Mr Lambert said that the announcement of group bookings of 20 people now provides certainty for many restaurants looking to accommodate parties looking to celebrate the end of lockdown.
‘NSW’s hospitality industry is on cloud nine today and we would like to thank the NSW Government for their ongoing consultation during this period. This roadmap will give certainty in the most uncertain of times.’
