One of the most exciting things in 2016 is the growth craft beers
When I go out for dinner, I like to have a beer or Red Wine.
If we Having dinner at Restaurant 10 years ago in Sydney, we would choice of Tooheys New, VB and if were lucky they might even have Coopers.
Australian has had a reputation as a nation of beer drinkers loving a “coldy” this taking a hit because beer drinking per capita is at a 68-year low.
Beer consumption per capita seems to be still falling across all demographics. Craft Beer is becoming the darling, continuing its strong growth.
So now when you go out to dinner, you will find a list Craft & premiums beers to choose from.
One area experiencing growth against the trend is craft beer, which currently enjoys 8.9% of industry revenue. There are now about 250 craft breweries in Australia, with major breweries also adopting or creating their own craft offerings.
If your Cafe of Restaurant is Licensed, you should realise your drinkers have given up traditional brands, such as Tooheys New & Victoria Bitter. They're more likely to ask for & want premium and craft beers and other beverages such as cider and wine.
Craft beer sector has exploded, making up about 9 per cent of the Australian beer market, and estimated to be worth upwards of $400 million in 2015-16. Australia has 150 plus microbreweries, IBIS has forecast the industry will grow by 5% over the next five years.
“People are turning away from traditional beer, so while craft beer is booming, actual beer consumption is dropping.
Contrary to a lot of the sometimes accepted wisdom, it is younger groups that are becoming more health conscious.
Although they are reducing their overall alcohol consumption, craft beer is a little less associated with excess drinking or binge drinking.
It is seen as a bit more of an experience — an experience that can be enjoyed without the negative connotations of alcohol.” Andrew Ledovskikh - Senior Industry Analyst IBISWorld
The Australian craft beer market is currently worth $160 million, driven by passionate craft beer makers with us having a more sophisticated beer drinkers and demanding a more boutique, unique, and premium product.
Most of your customers would rather pay extra for a couple of premium craft beer, as part of their dining experience.
“[People] don't mind paying an extra couple of bucks and drinking a few less at the end of the night, if they have drunk some quality beer — often lovingly produced in a small batch by the guy up the road.” Darren Magin - Beer blogger and brewer
One of the most exciting things about the craft beer world is its constant experimentation. You'll find most breweries offer - like an IPA, a good porter or stout, or a solid Kolsch.
Inspired by our home on the edge of the Pacific Ocean and brewed using all Australian barley, wheat and Galaxy hops, Pacific Ale is cloudy and golden with a big fruity aroma and a refreshing finish.
Crafting great beer is all about balance. At one end of the scale, if you’re brewing a delicate Western European lager, you have to ensure that the four ingredients work in harmony. These more delicate styles take incredible skill to brew well as there’s nowhere to hide any miscalculations or mistakes throughout production.
Launching to the almost extreme opposite, the realm of IIPAs, balance, surprisingly, is still a defining factor. Instead of delicacy in balance, it’s now big flavour in balance.
Simplistically, to achieve a big flavourful IIPA you need: Big Malt + Big Hops + Big Fermentation.
It might be pale but there’s nothing weak about this bad boy. This XPA’s tropical and floral aromatics set off a fruity palette that will punch your taste buds in the pleasure zone. Tailored for those who enjoy a fully-hopped beer that’s still easy to drink.
Designed for intelligent and sexy humans who'd like to be able to throw back a few cans of a zealously hopped ale, endowed with an ample malt chassis, and still get on with their day.
Pairing suggestion: Cooking, eating, camping, sailing, lawn mowing, home brewing, in-law visiting*, hiking, riding and doing.
The culmination of months of collaboration between the entire brew team. The project: to create the best tasting New World pale ale possible.
Huge aroma of tropical nectar ranging from pineapple, to passionfruit, to guava. Sweetness from the tropical fruit character is perfectly balanced by robust bitterness
The brief we gave ourselves for our flagship beer was that it should be able to be sent to any bar in San Diego and to stand proudly alongside the many great Pales produced in, and around, the west coast of the US.
The schematic for a West Coast Pale Ale is bucket loads of big US hops, full malty backbone and a characterful yeast. That is what this Pale Ale is all about. Enjoy as fresh as possible.
Similar to a West Coast IPA. Floral nose with notes of citrus and pine. Medium bodied with a nice punch of hops and a solid malt finish. A great beer for lovers of big full flavoured brews – it cranks!
