More than 30 Australian chefs will be included in the latest edition of Where Chefs Eat, a unique guide that features a whopping 7,043 recommendations on where to eat around the world, with those recommendations all coming from some of the world’s most respected chefs.

Now in its third edition, the guide seeks to include around 4,528 restaurants dotted across the globe, from top Michelin starred eats to small roadside cafes and hard-to-find hole-in-the-wall treasures. It’s about as close as you can get to having the best chefs in the world at your beck and call when it comes to deciding what the hell to eat while traveling, whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Predicting the fickle winds of trend is as popular at this time of year as breaking those well-intentioned resolutions.

We hear that vegan is in, hemp is the new superfood and “functional mushrooms” will be everywhere, from the dining plate to your coffee cup (I’ll stick with my long black, thanks). I take these predictions with a pinch of salt, driven as they are by commercial interests and the PR ­machine. Wade through an inbox of hyperbolic press releases and you, too, could be as cynical as I.
