Diners will tell you they’re fully supportive of restaurants and delighted to have them back. Typical of a social media discussion on the matter: “I think it has to be the norm during/post COVID. It’s not great, but at the end of the day restaurants have the short end of the stick with their margins. So they deserve a bit of security.”

Visa changes will be ‘welcome relief’ for hospitality and tourism

With a skills shortage causing major concerns across Australia’s hospitality and tourism sectors, the Federal Government has provided more visa flexibility to increase its support.

The Government will remove existing work hour caps for Student Visa holders employed in the tourism and hospitality sector; a 40-hours per fortnight limit previously applied during study periods.
