The Australian food scene has been evolving in pattern with migration since Chinese gold rush prospectors began sharing food in the 1900s. “Chinese restaurants emerged as a commercial enterprise on the Victorian goldfields,” says Barbara Nichol in her paper Sweet and Sour History: Melbourne’s early Chinese history.
Where are Australia's best paid baristas earning $73,000 a year?
Two baristas could be earning up to $73,000 each, making them among the most well-paid coffee makers in Australia.
That’s according to a job listed for two positions on the NSW Government jobs website.
The government is advertising two jobs between $61,658 – $67,031 per annum, dependant on experience, to work in the Parliamentary precinct including the Strangers’ Dining Room, the Members’ Dining Room, Café Quorum, and a Public Café.
These are the top 50 restaurants in the world
As if we needed another excuse to pack our bags and flee right off to Europe. The 50 best restaurants in the world for 2018 have been announced and the top ten placings have us scheduling a mouthwatering culinary world tour—starting off with avant-garde pasta servings in Italy before moving to Spain and France to sample the best innovative takes on traditional cuisine.
The annual awards were held in Bilbao, Spain, and Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy reclaimed the title of Best Restaurant in the World for 2018, having first been awarded the crowing place in 2016.
Closer to home, suburban Melbourne's prized culinary possession, Attica made a top 20 placing, marking the risk-taking restaurant as the Best Restaurant in Australia.
